They Came, They Saw, They Rubarb’d!

What a weekend! Downtown Sumner was bursting with energy June 21–22 as Rhubarb Days 2025, presented by Knutson Farms Inc., brought thousands of visitors to Main Street for two full days of shopping, live entertainment, and—of course—plenty of rhubarb.

Nearly 200 artisan vendors and 17 food trucks lined the streets, offering something for everyone. Families browsed handmade goods, kids played in the Kid Zone, music lovers enjoyed two live stages, and everyone celebrated the crop that’s become an iconic part of Sumner’s identity: rhubarb!

Rhubarb, Rhubarb, rhubarb!

At the heart of Main Street, presenting sponsor Knutson Farms Inc. welcomed festivalgoers with farm-fresh donuts, kettle corn, preserves, roasted corn, and more than 600 pounds of their famous locally grown rhubarb.

Rhubarb treats could be found throughout the festival:

• Sumner Rotary served rhubarb pie by the slice.

• Hometown Charm Café dished up rhubarb crisp.

• In the food truck court, Sabrina’s Street Melts wowed the crowd with a strawberry rhubarb grilled cheese.

Can you say YUM?!

Music, Brews & Festival Vibes

On the north end, the Main Stage and Beer Garden kept the energy high all weekend. Festivalgoers sipped local brews and dug into food truck favorites while dancing to bands like The Townies, rising star Amelia Day, and blues legends Slim Wizzy.

The Beer Garden featured local creations with a rhubarb twist, including:

• Top Down Brewing’s summer seasonal Rhubarb IPA

• Shiloh Estate Cellars’ Rhubarb Hard Cider

• Griffin Brewing’s Strawberry Rhubarb Hard Seltzer

The vibe was just right.

Shopping, Smiles & Rhu the Reindeer

Back on Main Street, shoppers found treasures from farm-fresh honey and rhubarb preserves to handcrafted jewelry and one-of-a-kind items. Adding to the fun, the Tacoma Rainiers’ beloved mascot, Rhubarb (Rhu) the Reindeer, made a special appearance Saturday afternoon—bringing joy, local pride, and plenty of photo ops.
